Documenting the Difference Diversity Makes is a Ford Foundation-funded, interdisciplinary project at the University of Illinois. The purpose of the project is to provide evidence of the benefits of diversity in a university setting. In collaboration with EOTU (Ethnography of the University) and the Center for Democracy in a Multiracial Society, I created Visualizing the Difference Diversity Makes - a web-based introduction into undergraduate research dealing with diversity on the University of Illinois campus.
By compiling interviews and documentation from student research, I created a website that critically explores the issue of diversity and the struggles of students grappling with the various issues at hand. The website is divided into sections mimicking the studentsí process of research: questions, observations and reflections. The viewer also has the opportunity to read the studentsí research in its entirety.
